It's no surprise that the novel coronavirus is currently a very topical issue in relation to digital nomads.
So what exactly are you looking for? The answer is dependant on several factors.
The coronavirus is a respiratory disease that was born out of Wuhan China. It began spreading globally and is now classed as a pandemic. It is particularly harmful to the elderly and those with underlying health issue.
And that is the crux of what the coronavirus entails.
The topic of the coronavirus is something we take very seriously. Some of the points raised below will stun you into thinking about your response to the coronavirus in a new way.
So many people out there are unaware of the most important factors influencing digital nomads decisions.
Quickly make note of anything to do with the coronavirus that already comes to mind. Name the first few words that come to mind.
Country lock down, a recession in the global economy, and in general the end of the world.
Ok, so don't be so dramatic. But still, the subject should be treated with the utmost respect.

Let's sink our teeth in.
Let us begin with the obvious.
Whatever country you find yourself stranded in as a digital nomad, you need to consider the state of their health care system.
Ask yourself if you would be comfortable going to a hospital in that country if you were struck down with a bad dose of the virus. Or are you better off doing whatever it takes to return home?
The answer will depend on three things:
If you are a digital nomad that has heart or lung issues, you need to act extra carefully. Ideally, you are already self isolating and minimising any chance you have of contracting the disease.
But luck is also at play. You may get it anyway - and if you feel that your life may be at risk in a foreign hospital, it could be wiser to return home.
However, currently, that may not be cheap. Which leads us to the next part of your decision. Prices are up. Bigtime.
If you are stuck in a particularly high risk country, most flights are cancelled. You may have to pay a very high premium (up to ten times the normal amount) to buy your ticket home.
This cost may not be attainable depending on your Digital Nomad salary. It may be best to self isolate and just sit it out in the country you are in, saving the massive cost. But it is your life at stake, and no price can be put on that.
Finally, self isolation is exactly that. Isolating.
When you become removed from social situations, it simulates those that withdraw due to depression.
Being apart from important people for a long time might lead to mental health issues, which can be just as dangerous as the virus itself.
Hopefully, as a digital nomad, you are already comfortable with spending long periods away from friends and family, and in general being alone.
But the situation is currently uncertain. The lock down in some countries could potentially go for years. Can you keep it together mentally that long under social distancing measures?
Considering the whole picture, it's clear there is a lot to think about regarding staying or leaving.
Hopefully this provides an indication as to the intense interest over the subject, and helps you make your best choice.
So you now have a different perspective.
And there you have it.
